Getting Around The Local Area By Bike

Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from Woodhorn Meadows.

The centre of Ashington can be accessed in around 10 minutes, as well as Ashington train station. For many people there aren’t, therefore, many key local destinations or services that you can’t access using pedal power. Significant investments have been made over the last few years to enhance cycling infrastructure in Ashington, helping to improve cycle routes across the region.

For leisurely rides, National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 155 runs to the north of Woodhorn Meadows and follows a predominantly off-road shared cycle and pedestrian path between Newbiggin-by-the-Sea and Morpeth. The route intersects with NCN Route 1 which is a long-distance, signposted cycle route which follows the stunning East coast.
